Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver shares huge announcement as co-stars rush to support her
Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has shared a huge announcement as she takes some time away from the ITV soap. The soap star is famed for portraying Eileen Grimshaw in Corrie, but in upcoming episodes, viewers will see the character jet off to Thailand.
Loose Women panellist Sue, 60, is taking a break to appear in a theatre production of Sister Act the Musical, in which she is portraying Mother Superior. The tour had a stint at the Manchester Palace Theatre back in March, with many of her fellow Coronation Street co-stars coming out to support her at the performances.
Despite being busy with the hit musical and other things, Sue has announced another new venture away from Corrie. The star is set to release her first ever book, titled A Work In Progress.
Sue shared the news on Instagram, revealing the book is now available to pre-order. In a promotional video with Bloomsbury Publishing, she said: "It's about my journey about my struggles with all of those things, especially overthinking and worrying and panicking about things. I just wanted to get on here and share it with you."
The book focuses on common mental health struggles. The accompanying social media post read: "Are you a chronic overthinker, do you have anxiety, or suffer from self-doubt? Sue Cleaver has been there, done that, and is still learning from it. In A Work in Progress, Cleaver shares her experiences and life stories, reflects on how they made her feel and what she learned, and offers advice and wisdom for others who find themselves in similar situations."
Detailing her journey towards empowerment at 60 years old, the caption added: "Training as a therapist was only the start of her journey of self-discovery and at sixty she feels more empowered to live life to the full than ever before."
Speaking about her newfound confidence, Sue added: "It's only now that I'm beginning to find my voice. I'm also aware that there is plenty for me to learn. I'm still a work in progress, but for the first time in my life, I have reached a point where I'm no longer hiding, and that feels good."
Sue's followers flocked to support her, with fellow soap star Liam McCheyne commenting a row of applause emojis. Meanwhile voice artist Kate Harbour said: "I'm buying and taking several leaves out of it n no mistake. So proud and happy for you Sue."
