The actress, who plays Beth Sutherland on the show, spoke to Inside Soap about her relationship with her cast mates whilst admitting she missed one former cast member in particular.
“I miss Katie McGlynn [who played Sinead Tinker] – I feel that Katie and I had something really special,” she revealed. “It sounds weird, but we had a closeness and trust as actors that I’ve not had with anyone else.
“It was very special, so it was heartbreaking doing Sinead’s cancer scenes. We’re close outside of work, even now,” she added about the actress, who departed from the soap in 2020 after seven years in the role.
Speaking about her current colleagues, Lisa reserved praise for Cherylee Houston and Kate Ford, who play Izzy Armstrong and Tracy McDonald, respectively.
“Cherylee [and I] have been friends for years. [She] was shielding in lockdown so when I visited, I stood outside her house. But now she’s back and we need to reconnect,” she said. “My other really close friend is Kate Ford – we share a dressing room.”
Beth has been in hot water on the soap lately, with her relationship with Kirk coming under strain following the revelation that she slapped Hope Stape.
Speaking about the storyline, Lisa praised the work of on-screen husband Andrew Whyment, saying he made the working environment comfortable.
“In the nicest possible sense, he’s like a pair of slippers. I’m so comfortable working with Andy,” she said. “He shows up on time, he knows his lines – he’s always on it. If I’m not, he’ll always point me in the right direction. I can completely rely on him.”
