Coronation Street's David Neilson reunites with former co-star Katherine Kelly

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star David Neilson has reunited with former co-star Katherine Kelly.

The pair, who played Roy Cropper and Becky McDonald on the ITV soap, were close throughout their time on the show, before Katherine departed in 2012.

In a post on Instagram, Katherine posed for a photo with David, writing a sweet tribute to the actor in the caption.

"Well look who I caught up with today… Still one of my favourite human beings EVER. #davidneilson #mightyactor #roysrolls @coronationstreet @itv," she wrote.

It isn’t the first occasion where Katherine has reunited with a Corrie cast mate. Last year she met up with Julie Hesmondhalgh, who played Roy's wife Hayley between 1998 and 2014.

Becky was involved in several notorious storylines during her time in Weatherfield, including drunken rampages, miscarriages, and her desire to adopt a child.

She left the cobbled streets after divorcing Steve McDonald and moved to Barbados, leaving the door open for her to return.

Though Roy is still present in Weatherfield, much of the current drama can be found in other storylines, with Stephen Reid triumphing over Carla Connor with his drug spiking scheme.

In recent episodes, he has been continually spiking her drinks in order to induce a meltdown, but his sinister actions had devastating consequences after Paul Foreman suffered a vehicle accident.

Speaking about his character’s scheming ways, Todd Boyce revealed that he has enjoyed filming the "fiery" scenes with Alison King: "Alison and I have had some great scenes together. [There have been some] really fiery scenes [that] I have enjoyed," he said.

"I think people have enjoyed her getting one over on him so they will hate it when the tables are turned," he continued. "Up until now he has targeted relatively new characters that people haven't really got to know but this is different – [Carla] is a very popular character."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
