Coronation Street star lands new role alongside Peter Andre - 5 years after soap exit
Former Coronation Street star Victoria Ekanoye has landed a new role with mysterious girl singer Peter Andre in the upcoming international series Falcon. The dramatic thriller is scheduled to be released next summer, with Victoria’s role coming five years after her exit from the cobbles.
The star played Angie Appleton on the soap from 2017 to 2019, and was the estranged wife of Jude Appleton and mother of George. However, a year into the couple’s new life, Angie found out Jude had been living a lie, and he wasn’t a marine biologist after all, with his lies ultimately leading to their split. In 2019, Angie returned to her old accounting job in South Africa leaving the street with her son George.
The new show will follow Greg Falcon, played by Noah Huntley, as he stumbles across a dark and deluded online scheme that could destabilise the whole world, while vacationing in Malta. His findings then lead him to team up with Victoria’s character, Professor Victoria Bassey to uncover a plot that dates back almost two thousand years.

Peter will be playing the role of megalomaniac Hector Laidlaw in the thriller hailed as a cross between Indiana Jones and The Da Vinci Code.
Speaking on the role, the dad of five said: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge. The character is fantastic; he has a dark side, he's clever, deep, and very dangerous. 'Falcon' is going to be a great series, and I am very excited to be working alongside such an incredible cast".
Also starring will be Emmerdale’s Daniel Coll who is best known for playing the recurring character DI Frank Blackmore.
Ever since leaving Coronation Street, Victoria has starred in movies including My Bloody Galentine and Sense & Sensibility. In 2021, the star was diagnosed with breast cancer, and underwent a double mastectomy. Earlier this year, three months after her diagnosis, the former soap star shared the news that she was cancer-free.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the star a snap with her partner Jonny Lomas and their son, Théo, alongside the caption: "Just received my blood & PET scan results, I can finally say… I'm CANCER FREE. Thank you to those who formed my safety net. I'm humbled to have such beautiful humans in my life. 2024 Let's go!"
Victoria had previously revealed her mother had suffered from breast cancer at 41, prompting her to get her lump checked.
