Coronation Street fans brand couple ‘disgusting’ as they embark on steamy affair
Coronation Street fans were horrified as Toyah Battersby engaged in an affair with Nick Tisley behind her sister’s back in Tuesday's episode of the ITV soap.
Leanne Battersby and Nick have been on and off for years but actually got engaged in February 2024. However, the pair haven’t been seeing eye to eye since Leanne has been taken in by cult leader Rowan Cunliffe.
With their divide, Nick and Toyah have become closer and bonding over their worry for Leanne. Toyah has also been struggling in the aftermath of her baby being discovered and has been leaning on Nick for support. In Tuesday’s episode, Nick and Toyah ended up sleeping together.
After confronting Rowan for paying for Rose’s funeral, Toyah returns home to find Nick alone. Nick apologises for Leanne’s behaviour and Toyah breaks down. Nick takes her in his arms and they kiss passionately, unaware that from the derelict builder’s yard, a man is watching them intently - and takes a photograph of them kissing.
Having enjoyed an afternoon in the bedroom, Nick and Toyah agree that it mustn’t happen again and they should stay out of each other’s way as much as possible - but will they be able to resist one another?
Viewers rushed to social media to comment on the steamy liaison - and none were happy. One remarked: “Toyah said that she doesn't want to hurt Leanne. It's a bit late for that, you've just bonked Nick”.
A second commented: “Regardless of what Leanne has done it’s absolutely disgusting to cheat on her and Toyah her own sister to do that to her! You can quite happily leave a relationship if you’re not happy!! #corrie #coronationstreet”.
Another joked: “Well, if you're going to be indiscreet, you may as well do it all the way in front of an open balcony…", while one even offered a prediction of a future storyline: “Ooh is #corrie gonna be predictable and Toyah will get pregnant? I reckon so. #CoronationStreet ”.
Afterwards, both Nick and Toyah returned to work at the Bistro. Nick struggled to keep his mind off Toyah, especially when Todd Grimshaw brought up Tina Platt’s recent affair.
Speaking behind the counter, Toyah told Nick: “I’m still furious with her [Leanne] Nick, but I feel really guilty about what we’ve done - it can't happen again.”
Nick feared the secret world would destroy the whole family if their secret came out, so the pair agreed to keep it quiet. However, at the very end of the episode, Toyah was sent a picture of her kissing Nick - and fears Rowan is going to blackmail them.
