Dancing On Ice star Connor Ball says that his gruesome injury from last week's live show has been stitched up and left "looking like a shark bite".

The singer from The Vamps told Metro that the wound, sustained after a fall during his pirate-themed routine, was "a lot worse" than a previous injury in which he was left bleeding from the chin.

Ball was in the midst of a high-scoring routine when he stumbled during a lift and ended up in a tangle of limbs with professional skater partner Alexandra Schauman.

"In the clip, you don’t see the blade go into my leg, and I don’t realise how it happened either, I don’t even know whose blade it was," the 25-year-old said.

Despite the dramatic tumble, Ball still secured a solid score of 34 out of 40, with all of the judges suggesting they would have offered up a much higher grade without the mistake.

The star said: "It was upsetting when they said it would have been a 9.5, but the fall knocked me back.

"When I tore off my trousers I was like 'ahh there’s a big hole in my leg'. But it’s all stitched up now and holding together and looking like a shark bite or something like that."

In the aftermath of the incident, Ball shared pictures of his injury on Instagram and thanked fans for wishing him well after the show.

Ball is due to return to the ice this weekend for an episode in which the remaining celebrity contestants will pay tribute to famous routines performed by head judges Torvill and Dean.

The contestants will be hoping to match frontrunner Brendan Cole, who secured a perfect score of 40 last week for his umbrella-themed performance with pro partner Vanessa Bauer.

Paralympic athlete Stef Reid also received praise for her "inspiring" number, in which she pulled off a unique take on the infamous headbanger.
