College fantasy football players to add for Week 7

Let’s talk sleepers. If you’re looking to take a risk in Week 7 with some off-the-radar players, here are some options for you.

QUARTERBACK

Ian Book, Notre Dame: Here’s a guy who really isn’t a sleeper in the world of college football but he definitely is in college fantasy football. Book has the fourth-highest projection among all QBs in Week 7 and is owned in just 34 percent of leagues. Pitt’s defense gives up nearly six yards per play and has given up 26 touchdowns in six games.

Taylor Cornelius, Oklahoma State: Cornelius has scored the sixth-most fantasy points of any quarterback so far in 2018. With three of the top four quarterbacks not playing in Week 7, Cornelius is a fairly attractive option. Only owned in 35 percent of leagues, there’s a good chance you could grab him for a start on Saturday if you have Kyler Murray, Eric Dungey or Gardner Minshew and need a spot starter.

RUNNING BACK

Lamical Perine, Florida: Perine scored twice in Florida’s upset of LSU on Saturday. He’s in a timeshare with Jordan Scarlett in the Florida backfield but the Gators have been running the ball more — and with more effectiveness — in recent weeks. He’s probably available in your league and is worth a flier if you’re feeling risky.

D.J. Knox, Purdue: The senior running back’s stats won’t blow you away but he has a good matchup against Illinois on Saturday. Knox has rushed for 136 yards and three scores over the last two games including a 15-carry, 87-yard, two-score effort against Nebraska last week. There are a lot of top-performing running backs not playing in Week 7. You can do worse than Knox.

RECEIVER

Tyron Johnson, Oklahoma State: Johnson has three touchdowns in his last two games. Those two games have also come after the transfer of Jalen McCleskey. Those facts may not be directly related but with a Kansas State team that’s struggling right now, Johnson could find the end zone again. He leads the Big 12 in yards per catch.

JD Spielman, Nebraska: Spielman has emerged as Nebraska’s top receiving threat over the last two weeks. You might as well see if that will continue for Week 3. His stats against Purdue and Wisconsin are incredible. He’s had 19 catches for 344 yards and three scores in Nebraska’s last two games. And if Nebraska keeps falling behind, the offense will have to keep throwing. That’s good news for Spielman.

DEFENSE

Boston College: The Eagles are owned in less than 40 percent of leagues and play Louisville on Saturday. The Cardinals offense is really bad.

Maryland: The Terrapins are owned in just four percent of Yahoo leagues and face Rutgers on Saturday. We don’t need to say any more, do we?
