Coach Is Getting a Head Start on Spooky Season

Stuart Vevers is among fashion's elite — i.e. he's part of the esteemed cohort of Scorpios working in the industry today. That'll occasionally seep into his work at Coach, in ways that perhaps those that share his sun sign might recognize, like in the dark romanticism that underlines his collections and the ornate but often slightly eerie backdrops for his shows. For Winter 2024, the homage to spooky season is a tad more literal when you look closely.

On Wednesday, the brand released its offering for Resort 2025, which it labels as Winter 2024 (i.e. when the product will be available to purchase) and describes as "the next chapter of [Vevers'] vision of Coach's American heritage seen through the lens of youth counterculture and the expressive spirit of today's generation." The apparel builds upon the core ideas of Fall 2024, seen on the runway during New York Fashion Week back in February — namely, the full bow-accented taffeta skirts dressed down with chunky knits and boxy tees.

Accessories are always a highlight at (and big focus for) Coach: In light of hit after viral hit in the age of TikTok, it's doubled down on bags especially, having its models carry multiple at once and, in recent seasons, buying into the Birkin-ification trend by loading up their handles and straps with charms and keychains. These add-ons tend to reflect "the iconic and playful visual language of New York City," as the brand noted in the press release (think: the Statue of Liberty, yellow cabs, "I <3 NY" mugs), as well as Rexy dinosaurs and other signature motifs. For Winter 2024, though, Vevers throws in a handful of holiday-specific baubles that will absolutely delight spooky season enthusiasts like myself — carved pumpkins! Spiders! (There are candy canes and gingerbread people, too, plus a Santa hat-topped Statue of Liberty, if you're into that.) The lookbook photographed inside Alder Manor really cements the vibe.

"Our Winter collection is all about exploring the archetypes of the American fashion language and reinterpreting them for today’s generation," Vevers said in a statement. "We're designing for real people, who are not necessarily in a resort or on a cruise, but moving through the real world. One moment they might be bundled up against the cold, and the next they’re at a holiday party. It’s a spontaneous, care-free way of dressing."

Judging from the lookbook, the pumpkins and spiders will be available across charms and earrings. The collection will be available for purchase from Nov. 1 through Dec. 1. Until then, play "Season of the Witch" and see the full Coach Winter 2024 assortment, below.
