Bridgerton's Claudia Jessie has shared the filming tricks the production team used to cover up her broken wrist.

The 34-year-old, who plays Eloise, the fifth Bridgerton child, was chatting on the latest episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when she revealed her injury.

She told the host that the costume team had to get creative by constructing multiple versions of a 'muff,' a circular cloth accessory. Claudia explained that the period fashion piece would have been used at the time to warm a person's hands.

However, because the muffs would typically have been a winter wardrobe addition - and Bridgerton was filmed in the summer - the actor noted that they had to invent a lighter, more weather-appropriate version.

'We just made it up,' Claudia said. 'We were like, 'It's the summer muff, of course!''

She then revealed that for continuity, the costume team fashioned further 'muffs' for a number of background actors to give the impression that it was a Regency-era style staple.

In terms of how Claudia actually broke her wrist in the first place, she admitted that she got a little too excited on set during a celebration.

She told host Stephen Colbert: 'I did a high kick. I'm not a dancer. The circumference of the dress I had on, it ends at some point.'

Claudia continued: 'So, when I put my leg up, I was restricted immediately and then I went back,' which was the moment she fell onto her wrist.

Following the incident, Claudia admitted that she didn't think it was a big deal, and that 'everybody was laughing.'

'I'm glad,' she said, adding that she 'would've hated silence.' But, seconds later, Claudia realised the injury was pretty serious, which is when the on set medics intervened.

She joked: 'Obviously, we have medics on set for idiots like me.'

Part one of Bridgerton season 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
