Cillian Murphy Looks Regal at the 2024 Oscars
Cillian Murphy is one of the best-dressed men in Hollywood (alongside Colman Domingo who has been striking gold with a series of Louis Vuitton looks and Charles Melton who proves that the power of classics never wanes)? His look for the 2024 Oscars is just an additional example of why.
Murphy, who was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Oppenheimer, chose classic elegance for this year's Academy Awards, donning a black tuxedo. He accessorized with a black silk cummerbund, a silver flower brooch, and a floppy silk bowtie (looking at his other recent red carpet appearances, it's apparent that Murphy is a big fan of them). What makes the actor appear regal is his choice in footwear. Instead of classic oxfords, loafers, or monkstrap shoes, Murphy chose to wear patent leather boots. Considering the taller heel, one can't help but be reminded of the Cavalier boots worn by British aristocrats in the 17th century. With his slightly disheveled hair, rosy cheeks, and steely blue eyes, his Oscar's look is not only elegant, but also effortless.
Murphy's sartorial choices take the traditional codes of men's black tie and flirt with the slightly contemporary. At this year's Golden Globes, for example, Murphy wore a tuxedo jacket, patent leather boots, and a tuxedo shirt by Saint Laurent. Instead of a typical tie, he accessorized with a white pocket tie. And, before then, his wardrobe during the Oppenheimer press tour was the polar opposite of the Barbie cast's, mostly made up of neutral colors, transparent shirts, and pinstripes.
