Christina Aguilera Shuts Down Body-Shaming Comments In Emotional Instagram
Christina Aguilera is blocking out comments about her appearance.
On December 31, the singer reflected on her 2024 in a powerful Instagram post. The clip began with a series of comments—including notes reading "Who is that" and "That's not Christina are you serious?"—and then shifted to a series of highlights from her year.
"This year, doing something a little different," she wrote. "This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE. No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation. I am evolved enough to know that nothing comes easy and no one is perfect. Everyone will judge you. No matter WHAT you do. And/ or what you don’t do."
The 43-year-old then addressed how her body image has shifted over the years, writing, "Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first. And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there. I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next everyday in order to build the next version of themselves for the better. Allowing yourself grace, patience and respect..."
This isn't the first time Christina has commented on her journey with self-acceptance. In August, she told Glamour that she struggled with people policing her body when she was younger and stopped watching late-night TV shows because of all of the jokes.
Here’s what else Christina has shared about her body over the years.
Rumors have swirled that Christina is taking Ozempic for weight loss.
In May, social media watchers claimed that Christina was taking Ozempic, a diabetes treatment that controls blood sugar levels. But Christina hasn't commented so far.
Some people use Ozempic as an off-label weight-loss drug. Oprah, Kelly Clarkson, Rebel Wilson and Sharon Osbourne, among others, have acknowledged using it to lose weight.
She’s felt insecure about her weight in the past, but no longer gives ‘a f*ck.’
In 2021, Christina said that she felt “insecure” about her body until she “started filling out a little bit” when she got older.
“Entering this business, I hated being super skinny. Once I turned 21, I started filling out a little bit, and I was loving my new curves,” she told Health, per People. "I appreciated having a booty. I've always said that women are way more interesting to look at than men. I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.”
A lot of Christina's self-esteem when she was younger was based on “how skinny I was,” she told Glamour.
“When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s,” she said. “I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had industry people: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.’”
But Christina learned to block out the noise. “I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f*ck about your opinion. I’m not going to take it on,” she said. “It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”
She follows the rainbow diet.
Christina hasn’t shared a ton about her eating plan lately, but she reportedly followed the 7-Day Color Diet at one point. With that eating plan, you have a different color of food each day of the week, rotating between white, red, green, orange, purple, yellow, and rainbow (in that order).
In addition to those colors, practitioners also eat eggs, chicken, milk, and cheese.
But in 2020, Christina said that she no longer diets and just tries to eat whole foods, per L’Officiel.
She’s serious about her workouts.
Christina’s trainer opened up about the singer’s workouts after she had her son, Max. Among other things, her trainer told Glamour that Christina likes to lift heavy weights, do intervals, and toss in cardio, like jumping rope, stair climbing, or boxing.
