Choir volunteers needed for Juneteenth celebration

Apr. 29—RUSHVILLE — The Rushville Diversity and Inclusion Council is calling for volunteers to join the church choir for the upcoming Juneteenth celebration on June 15.

This call to action comes as part of the council's ongoing efforts to ensure a vibrant and inclusive event for the community.

The council met April 22 and various initiatives were discussed. A notable highlight from the meeting was the discussion about a choir and inviting musicians to participate in the Juneteenth celebration.

Rehearsals for the choir are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. Saturdays at Second Baptist Church, 520 E. Seventh Street.

Those interested in lending their voices to the choir are encouraged to contact Choir Director Sister Maxine at 765-265-3823. When calling, please leave your name and number.

In addition to choir volunteers, the council is also extending an invitation to any musicians who wish to contribute their talents to the event. This is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to showcase their skills and be a part of a significant community event.

The council is excited about the upcoming Juneteenth celebration and is looking forward to a successful event filled with music, unity, and community spirit. With the involvement of volunteers and local musicians, the Juneteenth celebration promises to be a memorable occasion for all.
