Cheryl, ex love of Liam Payne and mother of their seven year old son, Bear, has broke silence over the tragic death of One Direction star, Liam Payne.

The 41 year old added a touching snap of both Liam and a baby Bear lying together on a bed, and said: "As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, Id like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being. Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.

She continued: "What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days. It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future.

"I am begging you to consider what use some of these reports are serving other than to cause further harm to everyone left behind picking up the pieces. Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them.

"Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.

Finally, she ended simply, signing off with: "Thank you, Cheryl."

Cheryl's sensitively-worded tribute to Liam was both beautiful and protective as she makes clear her worry for Bear in the future and for the friends and family left behind now.

Before becoming a global sensation as part of the UK's biggest boyband, Liam first stepped into the limelight as a solo act on the X Factor in 2008, when he was just fourteen years old. It was during this audition that he first crossed paths with Cheryl, who was serving as a judge on the show at the time. At the time, Cheryl, then 24, was married to footballer Ashley Cole, but she would later become romantically involved with Liam and give birth to their son, Bear Payne.

During his audition, Liam confidently performed Frank Sinatra's Fly Me to the Moon, leaving Cheryl, Simon Cowell, and Louis Walsh utterly impressed. In a memorable moment, Liam gave Cheryl a cheeky wink mid-performance, which seemed to win her over completely. Cheryl told a young Liam: "I like you, I think you're really cute. I think you've got charisma - you give us that little cheeky wink," before advancing him to the next round.

Their love story took the spotlight after One Direction's skyrocket to stardom as the world's beloved boyband. Cheryl and Liam Payne's romance sparked in 2015, with a ten-year age gap between them. The couple became doting parents to their little cub, Bear Grey Payne, but broke up after two years.
