Chappell Roan is unrecognisable after dramatic bald transformation
Chappell Roan is seriously an it girl of our times.
The musician has not only stormed the charts, inspired legions of fans, and appeared on Saturday Night Live but prompted serious conversations about artist mental health and sexism in the industry, while using her platform to advocate for trans folk.
A major factor in her ascent has been, no doubt, her unique sound and look. Not only does she have pipes but she has a camp, larger-than-life aesthetic that is theatrical, eye-catching and single-handedly defies gender and beauty norms.
Of her iconic white base makeup, she explained during a live show that the look is a snap back at small-town homophobia. "People in my hometown call gay people clowns," she explained to the crowd. "That’s why I actually wear my white face… Like b**ch, I’ll show you a clown.”
And, staying true to form, she's continuing to switch things up. Making her Paris Fashion Week debut, the musician appeared at Rabanne wearing a barely-there, backless silver co-ord by the brand in order to sit FRow.
Yesterday, she continued wowing the fashion fans in the City of Light.
Stepping out at the Alexander McQueen show, which saw models stomp down the runway in witchy garments designed by Irish designer Seán McGirr, Chappell unveiled a serious hair transformation.
Her signature red hair was partially covered by ~wait for it~ a bald cap! However, while the cap covered the peak of her head, her scarlet locks were spilling out over her shoulders.
Very avant-garde, we must say.
We think this is up there with our fave makeover moments of all time, tbh.
