Chanel Set Sail (Quite Literally) For Cruise Show
From recreating the iconic Eiffel Tower to 'launching' a life-size rocket ship (plus, remember the supermarket?) - Chanel is known for pulling out all the stops for their show sets.
So, it comes as no surprise to hear that an actual cruise ship sat on the runway last night. The Parisian fashion house wowed audiences for its Cruise 2019 show with the Chanel-branded liner 'La Pausa' - sweetly named after Gabrielle Chanel’s summer house on the French Riviera.

As the likes of Bella, Gigi and Stella Maxwell walked down the runway to Pet Shop Boy beats, it served as the perfect backdrop for the nautical-themed collection.

After the finale, the ship then opened up to guests making for the 'ultimate photo op' says ELLE UK's Fashion Director, Gillian Wilkins, who attended the show in Paris last night.
As for the collection itself, there was no shortage of Chanel's signature tweed two pieces and dresses. There were also plenty of white and navy stripes, berets, and straw hats, perfect for your next getaway to the French Riviera.
'From cotton floss whites to baby blue hues and hot pink corals - outfits were inspired by sailor suits,' explains Wilkins.
'This time everything was a little more oversized, and several pieces resembled embellished armoury. Added into the mix was shredded denim, candy stripe knits and moments of pin stripes tunics that ruched at the elbows.'
From tweed berets to straw boaters adorned with pom poms, hats were styled with every look. Most notably, however, nearly every look was worn with a pair of white tights-an item that hasn't exactly been the height of fashion for several years now.

The the ship, which was built inside the Grand Palais, transformed itself into the host of the party. After the show, guests were invited inside, straight onto the deck and the multi-level dance floor, explains Wilkins.

Chanel regulars, including Kristen Stewart - who wore a black sparkling tuxedo dress - and Lily-Rose Depp - in a striking gold dress - were amongst those sitting front row.
As Wilkins says, 'in true homage to Gabrielle Chanel and for women who revel in freedom, jump onboard the La Pausa and “go West”'.
