DFS and Cath Kidston have launched an exclusive collaboration to bring joyful pattern back into the home. Available exclusively at DFS, the new collection includes upholstered sofas, beds, accent chairs, chaise longues and footstools in Cath Kidston’s signature hand-painted prints.
Handcrafted in Britain in a range of recycled fabrics, the collection is complemented with a selection of scatter cushions printed on 100% recycled cloth.
Kellie Wyles, Head of Upholstery at DFS says: "Our exclusive collection with Cath Kidston is a match made in heaven and is the epitome of British quality design and craftsmanship. We’re continuing to draw inspiration from previous eras to bring a sense of comfort and nostalgia into our homes, and this collection, complete with the iconic Cath Kidston pattern fabrics, puts a fresh spin on traditional design influences."
The new collection features re-mastered signature Cath Kidston prints including Forever Rose and Endless Love, together with the brand’s latest print designs, such as Strawberry Garden, Painted Kingdom and Summer Birds.
"Each print has been lovingly painted by hand and paired with colourful accents and trims, with a focus on detail and quality," says Cath Kidston Creative Director, Holly Marler. "To see the pieces hand crafted with care with the same attention to detail as in our paintings, made this collaboration truly authentic, coupled with the team’s incredible passion, I simply cannot wait to see the wonderful pieces in people’s homes."
Most exciting about this partnership is that it signals the return to joyful decorating. Here, colour and pattern is used in a way that feels comforting, nostalgic and uplifting.
True maximalists will find choices abound, from the slender Printmaker sofa decorated in a flourish of Cath Kidston’s signature roses, to the traditional silhouette of the Flounce bed, with a headboard covered in blue strawberries. Tentative decorators too can choose small accents that bring joy, like the compact Gentle chair in a playful spotted upholstery, or any number of scatter cushions with whimsical motifs and thoughtful details.
"We’re seeing customers become more confident in expressing their personality in their interiors and we hope that this collection will offer pattern lovers as well as Cath Kidston fans the chance to bring their favourite prints to life in any corner of their home," says Kellie. "The beauty of this range is that you can be as subtle or as bold as you like - you can introduce pattern with a single statement item such as an accent chair or footstool, or go for the maximalist look by mixing and layering patterns across a number of pieces."
