Cat Lost in Yellowstone Reunites with Owners 2 Months Later — and After Traveling Almost 900 Miles
The feline, named Rayne Beau, lost 6 lbs. amid his journey
A paw-fect reunion!
A house cat who disappeared during a couple's trip to Yellowstone National Park in early June has reunited with his owners after two months — and traveling almost 900 miles.
According to NBC News, Benny and Susanne Anguiano traveled from Salinas, Calif., to Yellowstone with their pet Rayne Beau when he became frightened and ran off.
The couple, the outlet said, laid out the cat's "favorite treats and toys" in an attempt to lure him back, but when their trip came to an end, the feline had not returned.
Benny also told NBC News that a Yellowstone employee warned them that a pack of coyotes had attacked a small dog in the area around the same time, hinting that Rayne Beau's return would be unlikely.

"We had to leave without him,” Susanne told NBC affiliate KSBW. “That was the hardest day because I felt like I was abandoning him."
However, as they traveled away from the campsite, Benny and Susanne saw a double rainbow — a nod to their cat's namesake — and took it as a sign that their pet would be okay.

Sixty days later, the couple received a message from the pet microchip registry service PetWatch that had their cat's microchip information and location.
It revealed that Rayne Beau was at a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) location in Roseville, Calif., which is located hundreds of miles away from Yellowstone.

KSBW reported that a woman called the cat in after he was found alone in the street. At the time, Rayne Beau was found weighing 8 lbs. — as opposed to his usual 14 lbs.
"He was really depleted," Susanne told the outlet. "He probably didn’t have a lot of energy to even go further."
Rayne Beau was reunited with his family on Aug. 4 and is now back with his twin sister, per NBC News.
Benny told KSBW that he hopes his and his wife's story will help others dealing with a similar situation.
"Definitely microchip your cat or your pet and register the microchip online. We would have never gotten them back had that not happened," Susan told the outlet, as Benny added, "We have a global tracker now."
