From castlecore to cherry red, discover Pinterest's 2025 home trends
Say hello to bold self-expression in 2025, with cherry red, eclectic maximalism and handpainted furniture topping Pinterest's home design trends for the year ahead.
The new Pinterest Predicts report forecasts the hottest new looks in interiors, and 2025 is the perfect excuse to refresh your space and infuse it with personality, creativity, and a dash of fun. Here are seven trends you’ll see popping up on your feeds – and maybe even in your own home.
1. Get ready for Primary Play
Ready to let your inner child run wild? Primary Play embraces handpainted murals, creative furniture and bold wall patterns that turn ordinary spaces into playful havens. 'This approach marries sustainability with self-expression, making it ideal for both budget-conscious decorators and those looking for unique pieces,' says Tom Revill, creative director at Plank Hardware.
Tap into this trend with painted cupboards and contrasting trims; the perfect upcycling project that combines creativity and joy.

2. Cherry Coded: sweet and moody
If you love bold colours, make a statement throughout 2025 with Cherry Coded. Inspired by rich, dark cherry reds, this vibrant hue dominates moodboards and proves cherries aren’t just for cocktails.
'High-gloss lacquered accessories are perfect for achieving this look,' says Tom. 'Try applying deep reds as the primary colour for your walls or large furniture pieces to create a rich and warm backdrop. Add pops of complementary colours to enhance the overall look; consider mustards, burnt oranges or deep greens as accent colours in small decor items.'

3. Terra Futura: eco-forward aesthetics
Sustainability meets sci-fi with Terra Futura. This eco-living aesthetic draws inspiration from Solarpunk, an art movement that envisons a sustainable future where nature and technology are in harmony.
This trend is not just about saving the planet; it’s about reimagining what home can be. Pinterest has seen a surge in interest from Boomers and Gen Z alike, encouraging green, eco-conscious living with a touch of sci-fi magic.
'Embracing biophilic design – a concept which seeks to enshrine nature in architecture and to ensure that humans are able to maintain a connection to it – is a great way to ensure that your home interiors not only look fabulous, but that they help you feel it too,' says Catharina Björkman, style expert at Contura. 'An accessible way to do this is to fill your home with houseplants. They add a vibrant pop of colour to any room and have also been linked to numerous health benefits such as reducing stress and improving air quality.'

It's the perfect decorating style to embrace expressive, fun and functional spaces. Pile on the patterns, mix textures, and let your creativity run wild – the bolder, the better!
'The trend works just as well in small spaces,' says Catharina. 'Create drama in a bathroom by painting it a very deep navy or burgundy and mixing in luxe elements such as gold handles, taps, and light sconces. Add interest by creating wall panelling using MDF strips and fill in the space with a bright floral or nature-inspired patterned wallpaper on a dark background to match the room’s paint colour.'
