*These* Cast Members Have Been Confirmed For 'The White Lotus' Season 3
The White Lotus has been a huge hit for HBO over the past few years, winning a ton of Emmy awards and earning a massive fanbase in the process. In fact, the season 2 finale in 2023 drew "record high viewership," to the tune of 4.1 million U.S. viewers on the day of its premiere, per Variety. So of course, everyone has been eagerly awaiting news about the next installment of the bizarre murder-mystery series.
And finally, after the writers’ and actors’ strikes brought Hollywood to a halt for months, the show business industry is back in action—which means production for season 3 of The White Lotus is back on, too.
Of course, a lot happened in season 2—including characters like Jennifer Coolidge’s hilarious Tanya McQuoid-Hunt getting killed off—which means the cast will likely get a little shakeup and possibly some newcomers.
So…what’s the deal with The White Lotus season 3 and who will be in it? Here’s everything to know so far:
Will there be a The White Lotus season 3?
Yep, casting for season 3 of the show started the day after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, according to Deadline. HBO has also released a list of new characters, per Deadline (more on those in a sec).
There's no exact release date yet.
The strikes definitely messed with timelines, but the show is reportedly set to start filming season 3 in February of 2024. While it was originally slotted to be released in 2024, it’s likely that season 3 will be out sometime in 2025, Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max previously told Deadline.
Who will be in the cast?
A lot of people have been killed off or exited the show, making it unclear who will be coming back for a third season. That said, HBO is casting for a whopping 13 roles on the show and nine of them will be series regulars. There’s a huge age range, per Deadline, with casting agents looking for people between the ages of 18 and 80+. In the mix: A patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit, and a yogi.

Where is season 3 set?
This third installment will be set in Thailand. The Independent says a press release indicates production is scheduled to start in February in areas like Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok.
And based on the fact the prior two seasons took place in hotels, it's probably safe to assume this one will also be set in a luxe resort.
What themes is season 3 exploring?
As of right now, there are only have general, holistic themes floating around. Show creator Mike White has said that this season will focus on exploring “death in Eastern religion and spirituality," per Deadline. That seems to suggest that fans can expect the normal "murder-mystery" vibes that have been a crux of the show's plot in past seasons.
What have the show creators said about the show?
White also told EW in late 2023 that he was finishing the scripts for this new season, and suggested that this new season might potentially be a bit longer than the two that preceeded it.
“It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus,” he said. “It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing … I’m super excited about the content of the season.”
