Carey Mulligan has confirmed the birth of her third child.

The Promising Young Woman star revealed the news during a new Vogue profile, which shared that she was carrying her new infant in her arms.

"Here I am, ready for Vogue," she quipped, as she was described arriving in a blouse stained with a diaper leak.

The baby is the third for Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford of the folk band Mumford & Sons, whom she married in 2012.

The actress will next be seen in Netflix biopic Maestro opposite Bradley Cooper, which follows the story of conductor, composer and pianist Leonard Bernstein and his relationship with wife Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein (Mulligan).

The movie has been directed and co-written by Cooper, and is also set to star Maya Hawke, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Silverman, Michael Urie, Josh Hamilton, Scott Ellis, Gideon Glick, Sam Nivola, Alexa Swinton and Miriam Shor.

Speaking about how producer Steven Spielberg brought the project to him, Cooper told Variety last year: "He had this biopic idea and was talking to me about potentially acting in it. But I had just been working on A Star Is Born.

"And I said, 'Listen, all I want to do is write and direct movies. I always felt like I could play a conductor, but may I research the material and see if I can write it and direct it? Would you let me do that?'"

As well as Maesto, Mulligan has roles coming up in Spaceman opposite Adam Sandler and Paul Dano, as well as Wildwood with Awkwafina, Jacob Tremblay and Mahershala Ali.

Maestro is released in select UK cinemas on 24 November and will be released on Netflix on December 20.
