It’s not often we see the royal family off-duty. But we were provided the opportunity yesterday as the Duchess of Cambridge took her two oldest children to watch their father play polo.

Mum-mode activated, Kate came armed with toys to keep her children occupied during the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy game, including a slinky, toy handcuffs and a plastic gun for Prince George, which was held at the Beaufort Polo Club in Tetbury, Gloucestershire.

The lovely, candid shots, show the 36-year-old royal cuddling Charlotte, three, and looking on as she attempted handstands and rolly-pollies on the grass.

But, like any mother, the Duchess ensured her daughter wouldn’t go too far by keeping a tight grip on her dress when required.

George, who turns five next month, was photographed running around barefoot with his sister and friends, including cousin Savannah Phillips.

For the occasion, the Duchess wore another affordable dress; a £39.99 blue midi dress from high-street favourite, Zara.

Kate accessorised with a white Victoria Beckham handbag – that she’s been photographed with previously – and a pair of Russell & Bromley wedge espadrilles.

A minimalist Cartier watch completed the look.

Here’s a full breakdown of what she wore:

Charlotte wore a pink, floral summer dress and accessorised with a pair of matching sunglasses and George was dressed in a navy polo and stone-coloured shorts.

The family outing came a day after the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony, which marks the Queen’s official birthday. Meghan Markle made her first appearance at the event, and appeared to be boasting a post-honeymoon glow.

The 36-year-old Duchess wore a pink, Carolina Herrera dress for the event paired with a hat by Philip Treacy – the same hat she wore to Prince Charles’ birthday garden party at Buckingham Palace two days after her wedding.
