In a mere number of weeks, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will tie the knot and what better way to celebrate than with a hefty slice of cake?

Iceland is selling a limited edition version of the soon-to-be newlywed’s elderflower and lemon number for those planning on throwing a spectacular bash on May 19.

Just in time for the ceremony, the cake will be up for grabs on 14 May for £8 (a fraction of the proposed £50,000 bill Buckingham Palace will receive).

Inspired by the handmade cake created by London-based treat stop, Violet Bakery, Iceland’s interpretation will include three layers of fluffy lemon sponge.

The two-tiered cake will be filled with elderflower buttercream, Sicilian lemon curd and a topping of pearl-hued chocolate peals will give the dessert a royal touch. Is anyone else’s mouth watering yet?

Head Chef at Iceland, Neil Nugent, said:We want our customers to enjoy the Royal wedding celebrations in style and what better way to do that than raising a glass of champagne to the newlyweds and having a slice of their actual wedding cake well, kind of.”

He continued, “The cake features everything the royal couple has asked for including a shimmery finish with chocolate pearls, light sponge and fragrant buttercream. I’d also recommend adding some wild flowers decorations to keep up the royal theme.”

The royal wedding will take place on 19 May at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and millions of spectators across the globe are expected to tune in.

So start planning the big day and get ready to toast the newlyweds with a delicious slice of royal cake.

Just make sure to hurry, as the limited edition wedding treat will only be on sale for a week. Race you there!
