Camilla Thurlow gives birth! Love Island star welcomes third child with Jamie Jewitt, and shares adorable name
Love Island stars Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt have welcomed their third child. Camilla, 34, and Jamie, 33, are the proud new parents of a baby boy.
The pair, who met on the third season of Love Island in 2017, are already parents to Nell, three, and Nora, one. The loved-up couple announced last December that they were expecting their third child, and later revealed that they would be having a boy.
Announcing his birth on social media, the delighted couple wrote: "And just like that.. we are a family of 5. Meet baby Brodie." The couple then revealed that the precious new arrival had safely arrived at 12.38pm on May 8, weighing a healthy 6lb 15oz.
In a series of photos shared alongside the announcement, the whole family could be seen cuddling up to the new arrival, with both Nell and Nora having clearly embraced their big sibling duties with enthusiasm!
One snap shared by the new parents also revealed that for their third birth, Camilla had opted to try a water birth, with the photo showing the mum-to-be being supported in a birthing pool as she went into labour. Water births typically occur in a midwife-led model of care, rather than a medical one and are said to result in a more relaxed, less painful experience for mothers.
The unique insight into her delivery is just one aspect of her pregnancy that Camilla has candidly shared with fans, with the star having updated her followers consistently in the run up to delivery.
Prior to the birth, Camilla had been documenting her pregnancy with her fans and shared a beautiful picture of her bump as she reached 40 weeks pregnant. She captained the image: "40 weeks today and feeling every bit of it (mainly ALL the emotions)."
Camilla had previously opened up to OK! about her pregnancy. She revealed she was shocked to find out she was having a boy, as was husband Jamie.
"When Jamie and I then found out the gender, we couldn’t believe it," she told us. "It was quite a surprise, actually, after having two girls. It was a shock but also the best shock. Nell said right from the start that she was having a baby brother. As soon as we said she was having another sibling, she kept saying it would be a boy."
She also shared Jamie's excitement about having a son. Camilla added: "Yes! He would have been happy either way because he adores Nell and Nora. Plus, they’re two girls with very different personalities, so it’s more about getting to know the baby and what they’re going to be like. But because having a boy came as such a surprise to us, he’s really excited."
A few weeks ago, Camilla opened up about her daughter's developmental milestones in a heartfelt Instagram post, as she reminded fellow parents not to stress if their kiddos aren't hitting those 'firsts' quite yet.
Camilla shared that Nora, who turns two in May, is "on her own timeframe". She reinforced to her followers that it's perfectly okay if littles ones are taking their own sweet time to walk or talk.
The doting mum went on to reveal that she had received copious supportive messages from other parents when she mentioned that her tot only started crawling at 20 months. In the transparent Instagram post, she confessed: "When I shared recently about Nora starting to crawl at 20 months (and not yet walking) I got a lot of messages from mums who have been feeling worried, or isolated, as the majority of what they see on here are other babies reaching certain milestones."
Continuing, Camilla pondered on sharing Nell's milestones, her eldest daughter. Expressing, "It really got me thinking because I shared a lot of 'firsts' with Nell without even really realising I was doing it. And please don't get me wrong, I love LOVE to see those posts, watching parents see their babies do things for the first time. But having a second child on a very different timeframe has reminded me how much easier it is (without even realising you're doing it) to fill a square, or story, with something that someone is doing rather than isn't doing."
Camilla shared a heartfelt update about her daughter Nora's development, saying: "She doesn't speak - about 8 months ago she said dada for the first time and then overnight she stopped and hasn't said it since. She has never said mama."
Expressing gratitude towards her health visitors, Camilla expressed: "We are very proud of how she is steadfastly moving through the world at her own pace. The last thing I want is for her to grow up thinking that life is a race, or that she needs to be the fastest, smartest, funniest or loudest person in the room to be worthy of love."
