The cast of Call The Midwife has come together virtually to raise a glass to the NHS - and also raise some money in the process.

Cast members including Laura Main (Shelagh), Helen George (Trixie) and Linda Bassett (Phyllis) joined in having a cup of tea while dressed up, in support of the 'Dinner dress for the NHS' fundraising campaign.

"Had a tea party with some Call the Midwife friends to raise a cup to the NHS and raise some money for NHS Charities Together as part of #dinnerndress4thenhs," Laura Main told her social media followers.

"We went for a 1960s theme for our food, as though we were all around the dining table at Nonnatus House! And as I’m in lockdown at my parents', I had access to an old dress of my mum’s and dug out their old tea set. We had a great time being all together online," she said.

Of course, the CTM stars opted for '60s style in homage to their show, which is set in that era. If you wanted to do your own take on the fundraising challenge, you could choose any theme you'd like.

While the campaign was centred on parties happening on 1 May, you can still get involved and donate.

"Share pictures from your dinner party across social media using the hashtag #dinnerndress4theNHS," the campaign's website says.

"Invite your friends, family, neighbours, colleagues and more to your virtual dinner party. Decide a theme for your virtual evening with a dress code so everyone can ‘come to the table’ dressed up. Ask your guests to ‘bring’ a dish.

"Your virtual party might be a table for two sharing beans on toast or twenty sitting down to a banquet! You could start the night with a quiz, and even end it with karaoke!

"The more inventive your event, the better – the more shareable, the better."
