Brown suede bags are AW24's biggest accessory trend and they come celeb-approved
We are spoiled for choice when it comes to autumn winter fashion trends this season. The AW24 runways were busting with vibrant colours, tactile textures and eye-catching prints (yes, we’re talking about leopard print). But for an industry that often cites “less is more”, we found the opposite approach had been taken, with accessories layered on to provide those all-important finishing touches.
And, our magpie status aside, it was the autumn winter bag trends on display that really had us drooling. From tote bags swinging over shoulders to unstructured, slouchy pouches nestled in the crooks of models’ arms, our favourites all had one thing in common: they were brown suede bags.
We’re not the only ones who’ve found ourselves captivated by this season’s brown suede bag trend. Bella Hadid was an early adopter, natch, sporting the Coach Brooklyn Shoulder Bag 39 in tan suede.
Is it any wonder the tote went on to be named the most popular bag – and second hottest product overall – of the last few months in Lyst's quarterly index?

More recently, Iris Law has thrown her support behind the trend, seen out and about in London with the XL Deliberate bag from Dune London slung casually across her body.
The sell-out style, also owned by Katie Holmes, has been re-stocked three times since its launch at the beginning of September – further proof of the popularity of the brown suede bag! It’s now officially back in stock, but you better be quick if you want to get your hands on it…

It’s not hard to understand the mass appeal of a brown suede bag. Ticking both the ‘quiet luxury’ and ‘’70s bohemian revival’ boxes with its soft suede fabrication and warm colourway, there’s also the practicality element to consider. Brown is a neutral, so will work with a whole array of ensembles from office outfits to date night drinks. Plus, it’s suited to multiple settings, be it weekends spent errand running in the city or cosied up in country pubs.
But, just because a brown suede bag always looks expensive, doesn’t mean you actually have to fork out loads of money one. Whether you opt for a deep, earthy hue or a lighter shade, there are plenty of brown suede bags available for every budget. While Ba&sh and Reformation both offer more luxe designs for those wanting to splurge, at the other end of the spectrum New Look and ASOS have more purse-friendly styles.
