Brooke Shields says she was 'naive' about Calvin Klein ads
Brooke Shields has reflected on her iconic 1980 Calvin Klein jeans campaign, saying she was “naïve”.
The actor and model posed for the brand when she was 15, and in one ad she said: “You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing.”
It sparked a backlash, with some networks even banning the commercial, but Shields told Vogue in a new video that at the time she didn’t think too much of all the fuss.

She said: “They take the one commercial, which is a rhetorical question. I was naive, I didn't think anything of it. I didn't think it had to do with underwear, I didn't think it was sexual in nature.”
Shields, 56, said it shocked her that people assumed she understood the innuendo, saying she was a “very protected” young woman.
The Blue Lagoon star – who has two daughters - went on: “If they had intended on the double entendre, they didn't explain it to me. If they had explained it to me, why? Would they have wanted me to say it differently?”
The star said it “didn’t phase” her.
