Here is one accountant that certainly knows how to crunch the numbers. The self-dubbed “fastest accountant”, Eugene Amo-Dadzie just became the (joint) fourth-fastest 100-metre runner in the history of the UK and owns the quickest time in Europe this year.

Amo-Dadzie, 30, ran 9.93 in Graz, Austria last week. He’s behind only Linford Christie (9.87), Zharnel Hughes (9.91), and James Dasaolu (9.91) on the national all-time list.

The relatively new sprinter—Amo-Dadzie started sprinting “seriously” only four years ago—has dropped his 100-metre time from 10.93 to 9.93.

“I feel like I came into the sport at the right time,” Amo-Dadzie said in an interview with the BBC. “I very much enjoy that I have a different story. I still refer to myself as an accountant that happens to operate in the world of track and field.”

Amo-Dadzie told Athletics Weekly that he started sprinting more seriously when he was 26 after a friend and recreational soccer teammate encouraged he “give it a go.”

“I’ve not really set any expectations,” he told the outlet earlier this year. “I’ve got a great team around me, including my coach, Steve Fudge.” Amo-Dadzie trains with Lee Valley and represents Woodford Green and Essex Ladies.

“I call myself the fastest accountant in the world,” he says. “There may be some accountants out there that think they can beat me.”

Challenge extended.
