Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan shares cute behind the scenes birthday celebration

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has given fans a sneak peek of the behind-the-scenes fun on the show - sharing a video of the cast singing happy birthday to her during filming.

The actor, who plays Penelope Featherington in the huge Netflix hit, celebrated her birthday on Saturday (9 January). She shared an sweet throwback to her time on the set of the period drama this time last year, back when birthdays could be celebrated with friends and social distancing was an alien concept.

As well as a video of the crew in the makeup area singing Happy Birthday to her, she shared a photo from around the dining table with many of the ensemble cast.

"I had to do livid acting in this scene but IRL I was full of birthday delight," she wrote.

Then came the birthday video, featuring whooping, cheering and general delight.

"If you would like Happy Birthday sung to you multiple times on your bday, may I suggest working with a bunch of actors because they absolutely love it," she captioned the video.

Ben Miller, who plays Lord Featherington, is seen filming proceedings, Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) trills away, and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet) joins the celebration after the song's over, being told, "Thanks for joining us Ruth!"

Looks like it was a hoot!

Nicola has admitted previously that being part of Bridgerton is a delight. She told Variety: "We all really hope [that Bridgerton will be renewed]. It’s a real joy to make and the response has been beyond our wildest dreams. But until the Netflix gods come down and bless us, we don’t know."
