Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan is set to star in a brand new film
Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has landed a role in the new movie The Magic Faraway Tree.
The actress will appear in the big screen adaptation of the classic children's book of the same name by Enid Blyton (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Nicola join the previously-announced Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, with supporting cast members including Slow Horses' Dustin Demri-Burns and Ted Lasso star Nonso Anozie.
The Magic Faraway Tree follows Polly (Claire Foy) and Tim Thompson (Andrew Garfield) and their children, Beth, Joe and Fran, as they relocate to a remote village in the English countryside.
Shortly after settling in, the children discover a magical tree, which is home to many extraordinary inhabitants who can transport visitors off to distant fantasy lands for some unforgettable adventures.
Nicola will portray woodland fairy Silky, with Jessica Gunning playing Dame Washalot. Meanwhile, Slow Horses' Demri-Burns appears as Saucepan Man, with Anozie heading up the group as leader Moonface.
Sirs Lenny Henry, Michael Palin and Simon Russell Beale are also confirmed to star in The Magic Faraway Tree, teased as playing "a trio of mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls".
Additional cast members include Friday Night Dinner's Mark Heap, plus Oliver Chris of Trying and Green Wing fame.
The Magic Faraway Tree is being adapted by Simon Farnaby, the writer behind Wonka and Paddington 2. Production will commence later this month, with Ben Gregor of Cuckoo fame on board to direct.
It marks the second movie role Nicola has bagged in the last month, with the Derry Girls actress confirmed as taking the lead in new drama thriller Love and War. Nicola will play a woman who travels to Syria to try and track down her abducted daughter, in what promises to make for emotional viewing.
