Netflix's Bridgerton is just what 2020 needed. A fun, glossy, sexy series that had viewers hooked from start to finish. So what about a Bridgerton season 2? The Netflix series is based on the first of eight best-selling books by Julia Quinn, which means creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen has material ready and waiting to be adapted. And while we know Netflix loves to keep us waiting on confirmation of follow-up seasons, a Bridgerton season two makes complete sense given the success of this series. Here's what we know so far:

Will there be a Bridgerton season 2?

When our sister site Cosmo UK asked Van Dusen about a potential Bridgerton season 2, he said "of course" he'd love to make one. "Obviously we’re just focused on the first season right now. And while that focuses on the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne and her love affair with Simon, we know there are eight Bridgerton siblings [and] there are eight Bridgerton books. So in success I would love to be able to explore love stories and romances for all the Bridgerton brothers and sisters, of course."

What will the Bridgerton season 2 plot be about?

The first season was inspired by Quinn's first book, The Duke and I, and focuses on the relationship between Simon Basset and eldest Bridgerton sibling Daphne Bridgerton. Meanwhile, the second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, turns to London's most eligible bachelor Anthony Bridgerton and his relationship with a woman called Edwina. However, there's one problem: Edwina's sister Kate Sheffield. As for Lady Whistledown, she'll of course be back to cause more mischief with her Society Papers.

Who will star in Bridgerton season 2?

The Bridgerton cast is an impressive one, and I think we can assume most of the stars will be back for a second outing. However, this time we can expect Jonathan Bailey [Anthony Bridgerton] to step into an even bigger role, while the roles of Edwina and Kate will require new casting.
