Since its release late last month, new Netflix period drama Bridgerton has delighted fans with its steamy, romantic plot.

And viewers have been particularly infatuated with dashing lead character the Duke of Hastings, who stars in a number of now-famous sex scenes.

Now, actor Regé-Jean Page has revealed that he warned his family about the Regency-inspired show’s steamier moments ahead of the series airing.

Speaking on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, the British-Zimbabwean actor, 31, admitted that he gave them a heads-up in their WhatsApp group.

However, not all of the family were successfully warned of the raunchier bits, as the star explained: “We missed one of my cousins.

“She sent me a message that was like, 'I had to make so many tactical cups of tea during the show.' She said, 'I came back, and you were still going, so I had to go back and put the kettle back on.'

"So my family are very stimulated and caffeinated at this point, which sounds like a deadly combination.”

Page – who is based in the United States – most recently appeared in film Sylvie before starring as Phoebe Bridgerton’s love interest.

The actor – who is now a favourite to one day play James Bond – has previously starred in TV series Roots, For The People and Waterloo Road.

His recent rise to prominence in Bridgerton is thanks in part to one particular scene during the third episode when he meets Daphne in a cafe during one of their pretend courting sessions.

Page is seen seductively licking a spoon, while eating cake, as the camera zooms in.

The ‘Duke’s spoon’ moment has spawned its own Instagram account – already boasting more than 10,000 followers – and has invited comparisons to Connell’s chain from last year’s Normal People.
