TV star Bradley Walsh was full of praise for one Welsh town when a married couple from the area competed on the show. This weekend Toni and Lewis from Tredegar took on the intense Gladiator challenge.

Welcoming Lewis to the show, Bradley who hosts Gladiators alongside his son Barney Walsh, said: "You are from Tredegar in south Wales, a beautiful place" to which Lewis replied doubtfully: "Yeah, it's alright."

Bradley was quick to respond with his love for Tredegar, saying: "It's beautiful, I've been there, I've filmed in Tredegar, I loved it, I thought it was great."

Unfortunately both Toni and Lewis did not make through to the quarter finals of Gladiator. They lost out to their opponents Amanda and Mustapha, after brave performances.

In the first challenge, it was Mustapha and Lewis up against Phantom and Steel in The Ring - in which they had to try and touch the ring as many times as possible, without getting knocked over by a Gladiator. However, things took an awkward turn as the show was halted as the referee was forced to step in and assist Steel to tie his shoelace.

Toni didn't compete in the Wall, and both struggled with Atlasphere. It was then hard to catch up when it came to The Eliminator, although Lewis did set a very good time. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter

In other Gladiators news, the BBC show has reportedly been renewed for a third series. An insider revealed to The Sun that the current season has been "so well received" that commissioning a third series was a "no brainer" for bosses.

The source also mentioned: "It will be a huge thrill to the ever-growing army of fans of the family-friendly show." The show is hosted by father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh.

Although Barney came under a bit of criticism from fans for his presenting skills, in the first series, he has remained as co-host alongside his dad. This is not Bradley's only Saturday night role as he also stars in the BBC One medical drama Casualty.
