Boden's red midi is our dress of the monthGallery Stock

Boden has gone from strength to strength since its re-brand last year. In honour of its 30th anniversary, the high street e-tailer freshened up its designs to capture a younger market and dreamed up a graphic new logo, too.

It worked a treat. The Red team couldn’t stop talking about Boden’s new look. And several seasons later, the brand is still bringing that perfect balance of directional, comfortable and wearable fashion with every new drop.

There’s one item in Boden’s spring/summer 2023 collection though that we particularly love: a broderie anglaise tea dress in a striking shade of scarlet red. This A-line midi has puffed sleeves and a pleated bust, centred with pretty covered buttons.

The best part? It's currently on promotion. All you need to do is enter the code "F3Q9" at checkout to see the price drop from £150 to £120.

At over £100, this dress is still an investment. But it will serve you for years to come: broderie anglaise is one of those fabrics that will never date and is always on-trend once summer rolls around.

Boden’s version is high quality, as expected. It's woven from breezy cotton with decent weight (so often this fabric is made with synthetic fibres), so you know it will wash and wear well.

What we love about Boden is that most items come with petite or regular options, so you can find the right hemline for your height. What’s more, clever detailing like smocking at the back and elasticated fastenings mean the fit is adjustable – who doesn’t love a dress with a bit of give?

If you’re picturing where you’d wear this dress, take inspiration from this piece’s playfully named colourway, "Jam". For us, it’s evocative of strawberries, sandwiches and scones at quintessentially British picnics.

And when we’re not munching on these goodies at garden parties and BBQs, we’ll be wearing this dress to summer weddings (just add heels) and work (try this season’s favourite Mary Jane shoes).
