Known for its heritage styles and prints, Boden has decided to give the traditional kilt skirt a fun and contemporary twist, just in time for autumn.
Available in wearable colours and classic prints, the brand has designed kilts in tartan, herringbone and checks as part of its London Out Loud collection. The range is based around iconic pieces of clothing that are designed to stand the test of time.
After catching a glimpse of some of its new September styles on Instagram, one of the stand-out pieces featured was the navy Josephine Midi Kilt skirt.
Made in a neutral yet sophisticated navy colour, this skirt features razor-sharp pleats and a stylish buckle at the waist.
The midi skirt is also designed with concealed hook and bar fastenings at the front for extra security when wearing out and about on a blustery day.
For an everyday fit, we suggest wearing it with a long-sleeved top or cashmere jumper and a pair of brown ankle boots or white trainers.
By night, we suggest pairing it with a bold, chunky knit and a pair of metallic cowboy boots for a casual-chic night-out look.
However, if you’re into your patterns, Boden has also created its Helen Buckled Kilt in four different colourways and materials.
It’s one of our favourite options, perhaps because of the quintessentially Scottish design in red tartan. While no bagpipes or cèilidh are necessary, this skirt is an effortlessly stylish option and can be easily worn day to night.
