Last night, the biggest names in comedy and entertainment gathered to celebrate 50 years of Saturday Night Live in New York. Attendees included current and former cast members and friends of the show such as Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig and Ayo Edebiri, as well as a whole host of Hollywood talent, including actress Blake Lively.

Lively made her appearance on the red carpet alongside husband Ryan Reynolds, wearing a shimmering silver couture gown by Tamara Ralph. The opulent dress was encased in crystals and sequins, but it was the corset bodice, adorned with crystal-embellished flowers that noted a sartorial resemblance to Lively's It Ends With Us character Lily Bloom, who runs her own flower shop, and whose job was the inspiration behind Lively's press tour looks for the film. The actress, who famously styles herself, paired the look with strappy heeled sandals and dangling diamond silver earrings.

There was almost a case of double-up dressing on the red carpet, with Kim Kardashian also attending the event in a metallic form-fitting Balenciaga gown which was incredibly similar to Lively's in design. Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter and Heidi Gardner also chose embellished, bedazzled ballgowns.

The SNL50 event marked one of the first red-carpet appearances Lively has made since the drama has unfolded between her and her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. An ongoing legal dispute between the two has unfolded into a social-media wide controversy, with both sides mired in a slew of PR-adverse moves.

During the evening, the legal battle was referenced to, with show hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler including Reynolds in a joke alluding to the current controversy. In a clearly pre-rehearsed bit, Fey and Poehler asked Reynolds "How's it going?" with Reynolds responding "Great, why, what have you heard?"
