Blake Lively Just Shared Her and Ryan Reynolds's Number One Relationship Rule
Spoiler alert: It's actually very sweet.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of the internet's favorite couples for a reason. In between sharing funny life updates or trolling each other at the Super Bowl, the actors' love and care for each other is always at the forefront of their relationship — something that extends all the way back to when they first started dating, Lively revealed in a recent interview.
In order to have a chance at really getting to spend time with each other, the Gossip Girl actress shared on Substack show Further Ado, hosted by friend and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star Amber Tamblyn, that she and Reynolds created a rule for each other after they made things official in 2011.

"When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time so that we could always prioritize our personal life," she explained.
Of course, it was easier said than done — when the pair started out their relationship, Lively had a stacked schedule filming Gossip Girl, and Reynolds was constantly working between his action, comedy, and rom-com films. "That takes working really hard when we're not," Lively added. "Just like financial planning and sustaining that, it takes balance."
The "let's stay together" mindset has managed to stay the duration of Lively and Reynolds' 13-year relationship. “We don’t split up," Reynolds told in a 2020 Access Hollywood video. "Like, I shoot movies, and my wife shoots movies, and we go travel all over the place, and we just all go together. I think that’s been the best part of it is that we really don’t spend a lot of time apart. I get to spend a lot of time with my girls.”
