Blake Lively Has Finally Explained Why She's Been Wearing All Those Suits
When Blake Lively stepped out in array of Versace, Roland Mouret, Zimmermann Resort suits last month, we thought she might be going through a Gossip Girl identity crisis.
However, the 31-year-old actress has finally given her fans an explaination as to why she's been sporting so many tailored two-pieces during the press tour for her latest film, A Simple Favour.
In an interview with E! News on the red carpet of Ralph Lauren's 50th Anniversary runway show, the All I See Is You star revealed: 'This outfit is inspired by [A Simple Favour director Paul Feig] without even meaning to.'
For the event, Lively wore a a black fitted suit with a waistcoat, top hat and cane. Meanwhile, her iconic sleek blonde locks were teased into a distressed messy do that cascaded past her shoulders.
'In a A Simple Favour, the movie we have coming out on 14 September -shameless self-promotion here - I modelled my entire character's look after him,' she revealed. 'So tonight, we were coming at dates and didn't realise we're wearing the same outfit-it's so embarrassing.'
Some people look to Victoria Beckham, Chiara Ferragni, and Leomie Anderson for fashion inspiration. Blake, meanwhile, turns to the director of Bridesmaids. Sure.
The star first showed her love of smart tailoring earlier this year when she accessorised a Sonia Rykiel navy blazer with a dress shirt and multicoloured bow-tie to the Lionsgate Presentation at CinemaCon.

In August, she stepped out in Manhattan, New York in a bright lime green neon suit from Versace's SS19 Men’s Collection, before sporting a blue velour sleeveless suit, a Roland Mouret Harleston tartan jacket and Delano trousers and a white pin-striped Zimmermann Resort 2019 suit.

For the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, the mother-of-two dazzled in an all-white Ralph & Russo ensemble consisting of a fitted, crystal-embellished blazer, a crisp button-down shirt and billowing wide-leg trousers.
Based on the novel by Darcey Bell, A Simple Favour follows the sudden disappearance of businesswoman Emily Nelson (Lively) and the investigation to find out what happened, led by Anna Kendrick's vlogger Stephanie Smothers.
For the film, costume designer Renée Ehrlich Kalfus appears to be einventing Gossip Girl Serena an der Woodsen's wardrobe with an array of Ralph Lauren suits and Samantha Sung dresses.
