Blake Lively channels Barbie in head-to-toe pink

Blake Lively isn't ready to let go of Barbie pink just yet...

The actress co-hosted an event celebrating friend America Ferrera's role in the hit film this weekend, and wore a bright ode to the Mattel doll for the occasion.

Blake, who famously styles herself, wore a neon-pink Oscar de la Renta mini-dress with a feathered skirt, matching opera gloves, pointed Malone Souliers pumps and a Judith Leiber clutch bag.

She finished her bold, bright look with contrasting green Lorraine Schwartz earrings and a matching pink Valentino coat. The fashion house, of course, is known for its instantly-recognisable Valentino-pink hue.

When it came to her glam, the star's make-up artist, Carolina Gonzalez, devised a Barbie-esque look with a pink YSL Beauty lip and flushed cheeks, while her hair stylist, Jennifer Yepez, created bouncy blonde curls.

Blake referred to her hot-pink ensemble as 'loud luxury', an antidote to one of 2023's biggest fashion trends, 'quiet luxury', which focuses on timeless, understated fashion that feels expensive without shouting about it.

Blake has been friends with America Ferrera for years; the pair starred in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants together in 2005. America had a pivotal role in the Barbie film, playing Gloria – the only female employee at Mattell, who meets Barbie in the real world.

"I was so happy to celebrate my denim sister @americaferrera," Blake wrote on Instagram. "She’s the heart and soul of @barbiethemovie because she’s the heart and soul of everything she’s a part of. I’ve known her for 20 years. Since I was 16. I’ve watched her live, grow, soar, fall, make, break, push, fight, win, create, forge, disrupt, way make, lead, lead, lead...

"That speech she gives as Gloria felt as close to real as anything I’ve ever seen on screen. Because that’s who she is. She’s that spectacular, passionate, inspiring and full of heart in her own life."

Of course, Blake isn't the only person to have paid tribute to Barbie on the red carpet this year; she was undoubtedly inspired by Margot Robbie's impressive tour wardrobe. The actress, who played the famous doll in Greta Gerwig's film, has dedicated many looks to the iconic doll, all expertly curated by her stylist Andrew Mukamal.

There's no doubt about it: 2023 really has been Barbie's world.
