When Harry Met Sally again - Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reunite at Oscars and give that famous line a twist
Hollywood nostalgia was in full swing at the 2025 Oscars on Sunday as When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reunited on stage to present the Best Picture award.
This appearance marked Meg Ryan's first Oscars attendance in 27 years, making the moment even more special.
As the duo stepped onto the stage to the familiar tune of It Had to Be You, the soundtrack to the beloved 1989 rom-com, the audience erupted in applause, celebrating the return of one of cinema’s most beloved on-screen couple.
Meg Ryan started her speech with, “So we're here to present the award for Best Picture.”
Nine-time Oscars host Billy Crystal, was quick to reply with a joke, “And it's great because I used to work here.”
Meg Ryan played along, asking, “You did? When was the first time?”
“Nine tuxedos ago,” Crystal said. “Actually, my first time hosting was 35 years ago this month. Though according to IMDb, I’m 47.”
Meg Ryan added, “That’s a lot of numbers, Bill. Let’s just cut to the chase.”
Then came the moment fans (including us) were waiting for - Billy Crystal’s spin on his famous When Harry Met Sally line:
“You’re right, because when you have a chance to be an Oscar winner for the rest of your life, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
We loved his clever nod to the beloved rom-com.
This wasn’t the first time the iconic pair had delighted fans this year. The duo recently teamed up for a Super Bowl commercial celebrating When Harry Met Sally’s 35th anniversary, proving that their on-screen magic hasn’t faded.
We love seeing them together!
