Billionairess Era? Taylor Swift Officially Joins the 10-Figure Club

Taylor Swift is truly having herself a year.

Beyond the success of her Eras Tour and the movie based on it, the pop star is now a billionaire, Bloomberg reported on Thursday. The outlet estimates her net worth at $1.1 billion, with that money coming almost solely from her music and performing. Not many artists can say the same.

“Every endorsement, partnership, and business move she makes is part of a broader, meticulously-constructed plan,” Stacy Jones, the founder of the marketing agency Hollywood Branded, told Bloomberg. “It’s not just impressive, it’s masterful.”

To arrive at the $1 billion number, Bloomberg looked only at assets and earnings that could be confirmed or checked against publicly disclosed figures, meaning that it’s actually a pretty conservative estimate. The publication also thought about income tax, production, travel costs, and commissions paid to people in Swift’s orbit. (Neither the singer not her representatives responded to the outlet’s requests for comment.)

The biggest income streams for Swift are by far her music catalog and her concerts: The songs she’s released since 2019 alone account for about $400 million. Ticket and merch sales from her concerts, meanwhile, have racked up $370 million. She makes less—although still a considerable amount—from Spotify and YouTube streams ($120 million), the five properties she owns ($110 million), and royalties from her music sales ($80 million).

“In addition to being a generational talent, Taylor Swift is a great economist,” Carolyn Sloane, a labor economist at the University of Chicago, told Bloomberg. “Taylor has great ideas, is able to scale her ideas, and seems to be pretty risk-seeking.”

As has been reported before, Swift’s success also trickles down to the individual cities she visits and the American economy at large. During her Eras Tour, cities saw increased revenue across the board, with Houston reporting a 136 percent boost compared with the same period in 2019 and Tampa seeing a 26 percent bump compared with the two weeks before and after Swift’s concert. In total, the musician’s shows added $4.3 billion to U.S. GDP, according to Bloomberg estimates.

And Swift isn’t done yet: She still has multiple international stops for the Eras Tour coming up. Plus, music-valuation experts say her total catalog could be worth $1 billion on its own.

Seems like all of the singer’s wildest dreams are coming true.
