BGT star Amanda Holden's mission to 'shock' and stay sexy at 53
Amanda Holden is back on our screens as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, which returned to ITV on Saturday, 20 April. In the promo images for the latest series, Amanda seriously delivered in the glamour stakes, as she showed off her fabulous figure in a plunging red latex dress and strappy shoes - and her striking look at the launch show was equally eye-catching.
The 53 year old TV star has the looks of a woman half her age, and her risqué choice of outfits has no doubt inspired women across the country to be more daring when it comes to their own fashion looks, no matter their age.
And a source has told OK! that Amanda intends to make a splash this series.
"When it comes to the BGT live shows, Amanda is intending to go all out and wear some of her most revealing outfits yet. This is the time of year when she has constant attention on her, her body and what she wears and she loves it.
"When she first started out on the show, she was a lot more conservative and didn't want to offend anybody watching but over the years she has grown even more confident and is determined to show off her amazing figure. She's never believed in the less is more approach or being subtle and will go OTT as usual."
They added: "She's told her stylist to get her risque dresses and outfits that will have viewers complaining and she can't wait! Naturally, Amanda works hard to maintain her sensational silhouette, running three to four miles a week in addition to Kundalini yoga practice and a Viking inspired workout routine. But she doesn't restrict herself when it comes to her diet, as she told The Times last year: "I am not a slave to any beauty or fitness regime because I love food too much. I eat cheese and butter and I love a drink."
Amanda, who has daughters Lexi, 18 - now a successful model in her own right and Hollie, 12, with hubby Chris Hughes, added that she will continue to 'flaunt' what God gave her, insisted she will “never fade into the background” like women of her grandma’s generation.
Moreover, the source has told OK! that the star has no intention of changing, either: "Amanda sees herself as a role model to the older ladies, especially mums, and how you can still be sexy after a certain age.
“She has never felt or looked better, so why should she start covering up or dressing differently just because she’s over a certain age? If anything her outfits have got more revealing and sexier the older she’s got and she doesn’t intend to stop. If that upsets or shocks people, then she doesn’t care. She works hard for her body, so why should she hide it."
They also added that Amanda is keen to be a strong role model for her girls, too. “Amanda wants her daughters to look up to her and prove that you don’t have to follow certain rules - and they should be who they want to be in life. She has instilled confidence in them from a young age, and she practises what she preaches.”
The sassy mum-of-two is certainly not shy when it comes to her body - and is known for posting a selection of stunning bikini-clad snaps online. In early April, she took it one step further, when she stripped completely naked in the Heart FM studio, as she took part in a life-drawing class.
A video posted to the Heart FM Instagram page saw Amanda taking off her trousers to reveal her bare bottom, as co-host, Jamie Theakston, told listeners: "What's slightly distracting, Amanda's in the corner of the studio, without any clothes on. Which is a first, not for her of course but certainly for most of us."
He then shared that the Heart team had all been drawing Amanda - and her fans couldn't get enough of it, as they rushed to comment, with one writing: "If you got it flaunt it. Go girl", while a second gushed: "@noholdenback looks absolutely incredible - and always has been. What a beautiful figure."
But Amanda doesn't always receive positive feedback, as her often bold outfits, especially on Britain's Got Talent, have sometimes drawn criticism. In 2020, the presenter sparked a staggering 235 Ofcom complaints after wearing a plunging navy thigh-slit gown.
In 2023, it was a tight-fitting latex dress that sparked more Ofcom complaints, however, with Amanda subsequently hitting back as she shrugged off the criticism, saying she 'doesn't lose any sleep over it'.
Talking about the Ofcom complaints Amanda told Tyla: "I dress for myself and I've always dressed for myself and I really enjoy fashion and I'm okay with it is all I'll say.
"I don't lose any sleep over it and I never set out to offend anybody. But I think these days you're unable to not offend - there's no way of winning. So you have to stay true to yourself and wear what you want."
It really does seem like Amanda can do it all, with her role as a judge on BGT and a radio show on Heart FM. But first and foremost, Amanda is wife to husband of 16 years, Chris Hughes, and a doting mum to their two daughters, Alexa, 18, and Hollie, 12 - and she’s clearly determined to be the best example to her growing girls that she can be.
Meanwhile, Amanda has been hitting the headlines recently for other reasons, after being involved in a highly-publicised ‘spat’ with former X Factor judge, Sharon Osbourne. It came after Amanda branded Sharon and Louis Walsh 'bitter and pathetic' in an interview, after they discussed Simon Cowell on Celebrity Big Brother.
In a chat with the Daily Mail, Amanda said: "I hated seeing certain people in a reality show dissing Simon – he's the person who's given them all the chances, given them a lot of money and a lifestyle they probably wouldn't have had.
"It's bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her two sisters in the background – just stabby, stabby, stabby."
But Sharon – who previously worked with Simon on projects such as The X Factor – gave her side of the story in a fiery statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) and dubbed Amanda as 'crude and classless'.
But the spat doesn't seem to have phased Amanda. She’s back strutting her stuff on one of the biggest shows on telly - and looking better than ever.
