Beyoncé Reveals the Launch of New Hair Care Line Cécred

Beyoncé is entering the hair care industry. On Wednesday, the songstress announced her new business venture, Cécred, via social media and her website, beyonce.com. Launching later this month, the new product line looks to feature items fit for a variety of hair textures.

“Hair is sacred,” Beyoncé wrote on Instagram. “The journey begins Feb 20.”

A new teaser shows her mother Tina’s salon, Headliners, in Houston, where Beyoncé once worked sweeping hair. Interspersed with the footage are clips and images of women, including Beyoncé’s eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, getting their hair washed, styled and braided.

The specific Cécred’s products have not yet been revealed. However, a publicly accessible trademark request filed in the summer of 2022 cleared Cécred for the production of hair care preparations, candles, vitamin supplements, electric hairstyling tools, combs, hair accessories, pillow cases as well as four other goods and services categories.

According to a May 2023 report, sources told WWD that the brand will be helmed by Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson.

Beyoncé briefly teased the project in a separate Instagram post last year. “How many of y’all knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama’s salon?” Beyoncé wrote. “Destiny’s Child got our first start by preforming for clients while they were getting their hair done. I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy. I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.”

While Cécred marks her first hair care venture, Beyoncé is no stranger to the beauty space. In 2008, the artist served as a brand ambassador for L’Oréal Paris and in 2010, she released her first fragrance, Heat. Late last year, Beyoncé debuted another eau de parfum, Cé Noir.
