Beyoncé performed a clever styling trick while talking to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Beyoncé and the Duchess of Sussex met during a much publicised encounter at the European premiere of The Lion King on Sunday night, following which footage and pictures of the meeting were promptly broadcast around the world.

And while you've likely seen them, you might not have noticed the clever styling trick that Beyoncé performed in order to make her outfit more royal-appropriate.

The singer arrived on the red carpet wearing a custom gold Cong Tri gown with a daring thigh-high split.

But while meeting Meghan and Harry, Queen Bey used her clutch bag to hold the leg slit closed during the entire interaction:

This move was presumably to keep things a little more formal while chatting to royalty, and it's likely that the star herself chose to alter the appearance of her dress, rather than being requested to. Although, Meghan herself has been known to rock a thigh-high split in her time (although, granted, not quite that high).

When the couples met, Beyoncé greeted Meghan with a warm hug, saying: "My princess". She then remarked that their new baby was "so beautiful".

Jay Z then proceeded to give the couple some parenting advice, telling them: "Always find some time for yourself."
