Beyoncé Gave the Coquette Cowgirl Trend a Unique Spin with a Simple Accessory

Bows are here to stay, because Queen B says so.

Beyoncé's country era has seen the pop star heavily referencing her Texas roots. As such, members of the BeyHive have been treated to Bey wearing "bigger the hair, closer to God" pageant queen curls and several cowboy hats (which have inspired a few memes, of course). Beyoncé's latest look is no exception, and sees her giving a coquettish and cowgirl twist to a traditionally refined ensemble.

Ahead of dropping an alternative cover for her forthcoming album, Cowboy Carter, Bey shared a photo set to her Instagram that featured her in an all-black tailored suit. The singer wore a crisp white shirt underneath the tuxedo, and instead of finishing off the look with a tie, Bey adorned her neck with a satin black bow — a hallmark of the coquette aesthetic.

The bow "tie" had a bejeweled twist, and featured multiple dazzling diamonds cascading down its center. The "Texas Hold 'Em" singer completed the look with a tall black cowboy hat, sleek Alaïa sunglasses, and sky-high black pumps.

The look is an extension of Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album rollout. The pop star revealed the inspirations for her deciding to pivot to country in a March 19 Instagram post, and stated the body of work came from feeling unaccepted by the genre in the past.

"This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t," she explained in her post, which contained the album's official cover art. "But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history."

She continued, "The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work."

Cowboy Carter will be released on March 29.
