The bestselling wallpaper designs of 2024 WallPaperdirect

Whether pairing it with paint or zoning a room, wallpaper is a brilliant design tool to introduce colour, pattern, texture and depth to your space, and its popularity isn't waning. Wallpaperdirect has noted a 70 per cent increase in searches for wallpaper this year. A go-to for DIYers, modern wallpapers are also easy to apply and remove, making them a practical choice for renters or those who simply enjoy refreshing their interiors regularly.

'Wallpaper is art that you can cover your space in,' says Melanie Adams, global head of wallpaperdirect, who has 'observed a growing demand for classic designs, even as the colours and scales of the original designs become outdated', which in turn is inspiring a new generation of wallpaper users.

Celebrating its 25th birthday, Wallpaperdirect (which was launched in 1999 by C. Brewer & Sons) today offers a huge selection of more than 25,000 wallpapers – from Andrew Martin to Clarke & Clarke, and William Morris to Osborne & Little – dispatching hundreds of parcels every week and tens of thousands of samples each month.

So what designs have come out on top for 2024? Take a look at the top 10 below.

Pimpernel wallpaper in bayleaf / manilla

'It is no surprise to us that Pimpernel by Morris & Co. is our bestseller when you consider William Morris himself chose the swirling pattern to adorn the walls of his dining room at Kelmscott House,' says Melanie. 'It features the classic Morris style floral trellis and a strong symmetrical pattern within the leaves and is available in feminine yet robust colourways.

'As a result, the design is one that transcends the feminine and masculine style and appeals to a multitude of aesthetics as a traditional design that has been recoloured in contemporary colourways.'
