The future of Big Days everywhere might look uncertain, but one thing is for sure: a fabulous outfit for the bride is always of paramount importance.

While weddings have been cancelled and postponed left, right and centre throughout the pandemic, a bride-to-be has to get her kicks somewhere, right? And right now, it looks like that might just be in our dreams along with all of the other wedding prep to consider.

So, to kick start you on your wedding dress dreaming way, we’ve rounded up the best looks from spring/summer 2021 Haute Couture Week and the droves of dreamy dresses that twirled down this season’s runways (and across our screens.)

While this season marked yet another virtual event for the home of whimsical and fantastical fashion, there has wedding dress inspiration aplenty from each of the 28 brands that have participated, including Chanel, Dior, and Schiaparelli.

Throw on a tux

Take your cues from Virginie Viard’s wedding-themed Chanel show and add a quirky touch to your frock with a tux. Not only can it cinch in the waist à la the babes of Bridgerton, but it can also work hard as a separate post-wedding. Two birds, one stone? Absolutely.

The bigger the bling, the better

While the virtues of XXL Zoom-worthy bling have been extolled at large for the last year, Schiaparelli appeared to confirm their status in the upper echelons of the fashion industry too. In a collection reminiscent of Dynasty on steroids, the Italian fashion house amped up its already flamboyant frocks with big ‘n’ bold bling.

Okay, the dress might be a little larger than you were gunning for, but the takeaway is clear: when in doubt on your Big Day, add a healthy seasoning of bling.

Feathery frocks

Feathers adorned all manner of sleeves at Haute Couture Fashion Week, adding a sultry vibe to the dresses that hosted them. If you fancy yourself a frock that can go from ceremony to reception to party (a bride-to-be really can dream), then get yourself one with feathers.

All that glitters

Valentino IMAXTree

Valentino really went for gold at its SS21 couture show. There were gold masks covering entire faces, gold specs scattered on hair and, more importantly, some seriously glitter-tastic dresses. If, after the drama of your wedding, a plain ole’ white dress feels a little dull for the dance floor, then take it up a notch with gold. Why not?
