Since 2016, TikTok has been churning out the most hilarious, entertaining, and quite frankly most *bizarre* content, and we are so here for it. From celebs teasing new music to inspirational body-positive accounts to candle making lessons(?!) it seems that there’s nothing the social media video app won’t cover. TikTokkers are now even sharing their cleaning hacks - some of which Mrs. Hinch would be jealous of.

But while you think you may know all the classic ways of tidying your house, chances are you’ve not tried these new, inventive ways to get your bathroom glowing and your kitchen glistening.

So, here’s a round-up of some of the best cleaning hacks TikTok has to offer, should you want to justify spending hours (and hours and hours) on end on the app.

*Disclaimer: we are not professional cleaners, so please consult an expert.

1. Cleanse your home without using chemicals

Add sliced lemon, mint leaves, and cinnamon powder/sticks to a simmering pan. Let the scents infuse and leave simmering until your whole home smells fresh.

2. Clean your oven and microwave with minimal effort

Mix together bicarbonate of soda, fairy liquid and water into a paste, line the inside of your microwave and oven with them and leave to soak overnight. Rub off with a bit of vinegar and watch it all shine.

3. Use baking soda, fairy liquid, a paintbrush and a lemon to clean your sink

Mix baking soda and fairy liquid together in a bowl until it turns into a paste. Then use a paintbrush to paint the entire sink with the mixture. Scrub with a lemon before cleaning the paste off, and voilà.

4. Use dishwasher liquid to clean your shower

Instead of mixing loads of chemicals and detergents together, a simple dishwashing liquid will do the trick. Just don't be lazy and forget to move those shampoo and conditioner bottles!

5. Use bleach and toilet paper to get rid of stubborn mould

Leave bleach soaking on bathroom mould overnight in a bid to shift those stubborn bits between the seal and the tiles.

6. Use fairy liquid instead of bleach to clean your toilet

Okay, you're probably thinking fairy liquid is the answer to everything by now. If you don't want to use harsh chemicals to clean your toilet, you can use washing up liquid to clean the inside of your toilet and make it sparkly white.

7. Get rid of container stains with fairy liquid and kitchen roll

Got tomato stains in your plastic storage boxes? Put some hot water, fairy liquid and a piece of kitchen roll in with the lid on, give it a good shake and leave it to soak. The kitchen paper *should* suck up those nasty stains and leave your plastic as good as new.

8. Use a bleach and a toothbrush to clean your grout

Reminder: your grout isn't meant to be that colour. Use the bleach nozzle to target the dirty grout, and then a toothbrush to rub away at the grime.

9. Fold your towels like you're at a spa

Spas might feel off the cards right now, but that doesn't mean you can't learn from the pros (TikTok) how to get that luxe feel at home. So what if we roll every towel in our home like this from now on?

10. How to remove red wine stains from your carpet

Use your iron's steam setting and carpet cleaner to remove red wine stains from your carpet, with an old cloth in the middle. Be careful not to burn your carpet, though!

11. Use washing powder and vinegar to clean burnt pots

A concoction of warmed washing powder, vinegar and fairy liquid looks like the perfect way to get burned bits off of the bottom of your pan.

12. Use a squeegee to deep clean your carpets

Before hoovering, use a squeegee to scrape up fluff and hair from your carpet. Looks like it makes it super fluffy too!

13. Stop your clothes from smelling

If your clothes smell after washing, add two tablets to your machine and put on a quick auto-clean to remove all the dirty water.

14. Freshen up your toilet

Put a washing capsule in a container and add hot water. Pour into the top of your toilet, add some fabric softener, and then flush.

Side note: it's up to you what scent you choose.

15. Use clean water to mop your floors

This is a game changer. Place a bucket into your actual mop bucket and add some floor cleaner/fairy liquid (obvs). Place your mop in the bucket within the bucket (are you following?!) and rinse as you would normally. Repeat. The video will probably explain it much better...

We know what we're doing this weekend.
