Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos. It’s hard to think of a more stellar trio in a summer blockbuster, which is why we’re becoming increasingly obsessed with all things Twisters-related at the moment.

This summer, the actors have come together for their 2024 film Twisters, a thriller action film which sees a storm season intensify and their characters soon having to fight for their lives in Oklahoma as a devastating tornado threatens all that they know.

In addition to Edgar-Jones ‘killing’ it with her red carpet looks, from micro shorts and knitted two-pieces to black capri trousers and a ‘nude glow’ manicure, the 26-year-old and Powell have left us swooning over their adorable off-screen relationship, and friendship with Hamilton star Ramos.

Here, we delve into the best moments from the Twisters press tour so far and explain why the film is the hit of the summer:

Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones’ chemistry is next level

The love (albeit platonic) between the two leading actors is palpable and the pair have continued to show just how strong their bond is during their press tour for Twisters. While Powell hit headlines last year for his rapport, both on and off camera, with his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney, all eyes are now on his relationship with Edgar-Jones.

At the UK premiere of their film, the pair were seen laughing and joking together, with their arms wrapped around each other’s waists, on the red carpet. In a recent interview with Variety, Edgar Jones gushed about her co-star, describing him as ‘one of the most hardworking people’ she’d ever met.

‘I remember going into his trailer, and he had an extraordinary number of books on weather and storm-chasing,’ she added. ‘He was the best scene partner. We’re similar in our approach to acting — we bonded a lot over our shared neuroses of trying to get things perfect.’

The pair first met at the premiere of Edgar-Jones’ series Fresh. ‘Do you know what, we had met actually,’ she told her co-star during an interview with HELLO!. ‘Glen came to the premiere of Fresh a few years ago – I met him then and he was lovely.’

‘I was so excited when they were thinking about who to cast for Tyler and I was like “Glen is the one”. He’s just the loveliest person and we just had so much fun, we had such a great laugh the whole time.’

Director Lee Isaac Chung also said of the pair: ‘The reason why I cast them was because when I'd watched things that they were in I would feel like they must be incredible people to be friends with and that was so true! As soon as I met them it felt like old friends and they just kept that energy throughout the production. They really are amazing and incredible people.’

So close are the co-stars that Edgar-Jones recently shared a video of herself and Powell and Ramos taking part in Charli XCX’s viral TikTok dance to her hit song ‘Apple’.

‘Caught the lads up on Brat summer,’ the Normal People star captioned the post, with Powell commenting: ‘Hard to remember my life before this dance. Thank you, Daisy.'

Daisy Edgar-Jones’ 'Twisters' press tour fashion sends her to new sartorial heights

Mention the name ‘Daisy Edgar-Jones’ to pretty much anyone at the moment and you’ll receive adjectives ranging from ‘hot’, ‘gorgeous’ and ‘fire’, relating to just how on point her sense of style is right now.

During her stint on the press tour for her latest film, the star has been seen in an array of high-fashion, figure-sculpting looks, from a chocolate brown Vivienne Westwood gown at the European premiere, to a backless white Gucci dress in Los Angeles and a Camilla and Marc cream Bermuda short-style suit style with Khaite heels most recently.

What do you need to know about the 2024 Twisters film?

If this horrible British summer weather hasn’t given you a clue already, then let Powell and Edgar-Jones’ blockbuster Twisters enlighten you to the omnipresent and powerful force of the environment and its topsy turvy, changing climate.

Inspired by the 1996 film Twister, the 2024 sequel doesn’t require viewers to have watched the first film to understand the plot. Powell described the film to Vogue as ‘its own standalone story in the modern day’. ‘We're not trying to recreate the story from the first one,’ he continued, adding: ‘It's a completely original story. There are no characters from the original movie back, so it's not really a continuation.’

The film follows self-dubbed Tornado Wrangler, Tyer Owens (Powell), who follows tornados on social media for thrills. Storm chaser Javi (Anthony Ramos) invites his friend and storm tracker, Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones) to forget studying meteorology for a second and test new forms of technology on tornadoes in Oklahoma. Together, the trio chase the most terrifying of all storms.

What are the reviews like for Twisters?

The film currently has a 78% Rotten Tomatoes score and 7.1 on IMDb.

According to the Radio Times, the film merits a three-star rating. ‘The set pieces often impress but any hints of romance, drama and humour are too often lost in the eye of the storm,’ its reviewer writes.

The BBC meanwhile argue that the film doesn’t have ‘much plot’ like its predecessor’. ‘The problem is that there is no urgent narrative reason for the characters to put themselves in harm's way, so there is no reason for the audience to cheer them on,’ its reviewer adds.

NME, however, has given the film a five-star review, adding that it’s perhaps ‘the most entertaining film of the year’. ‘Twisters will have you singing the praises of the multiplex until the cows come home,’ its writer notes.

The 2024 film 'Twisters' will be released on July 17 2024 in cinemas across the UK.
