It's time for another McDonald's ordering hack from our favorite former corporate chef, Mike Haracz. Since leaving his role at McDonald's HQ, Haracz has been sharing his behind-the-scenes knowledge of the fast-food chain on his TikTok account. So far, he's revealed why customers should never order a Big Mac and the easiest way to instantly upgrade a McDonald's burger.

His latest viral tip is yet another genius hack that dramatically improves one of the chain's popular breakfast sandwiches. It's a simple step that will get you a "far superior" meal. The secret? Elevating the key ingredient, the egg.

Haracz suggests that customers start by ordering the bagel breakfast sandwich that quietly made a return to McDonald's restaurants earlier this year. The sandwich usually comes with a protein (bacon, sausage, or steak), cheese, and an egg that the chef suggests is "the problem."

In the video, he points at a photo of the standard combo, specifically calling out the egg. "This is their pre-frozen, folded egg, okay? All they do is either microwave it, put it on a grill, hold it in their [universal holding cabinet]," he says. “It is the worst egg that McDonald’s has in the restaurant."

Instead of settling for this subpar egg, Haracz recommends a simple swap. Customers can ask employees to switch out the not-so-fresh folded egg for the scrambled eggs that come as part of McDonald's Big Breakfast meal. The difference? These eggs are as close as you can get to fresh, since they're actually cooked in the restaurant, according to Haracz. The egg that's used is pre-blended whites and yolk, but the chef believes the resulting product tastes better.

“It is [a] liquid egg product that they cook and hold, but it’s more flavorful,” he said. “It’s more tender.”

Another bonus is that you may get more of it, too. The portion of scrambled eggs "is bigger based on how they’re supposed to make it,” revealed Heracz. “When you add that egg to your bagel sandwich, it is far superior.”

One commenter said they tried it and were even more thrilled by what they found on the receipt. “I did it, they had no problem doing it… it was amazing !!! No up charge either.”

As we've learned before, you can also do this with the round egg that comes as the default option on the Egg McMuffin. Now, thanks to Haracz, we have yet another trick in our back pocket to level up our fast-food orders.
