The best new year escapes to blow away the cobwebs
Whether it’s Christmas fatigue, spending too much time indoors over the festive period, or New Year’s Eve overindulgences, December can leave us seriously sluggish. Plus, the days are still short, and the air seems permanently damp, so a little trip away can really lift our spirits.
If you’re looking for a way to blow away the cobwebs and start 2025 with a spring in your step (while you wait for the actual spring to roll around), we have just the ideas to book now...
A weekend of winter walks in Cornwall
The beaches of Cornwall are unbeatable. And while you’ll have to wrap up warmly, there are few things more invigorating than long walks following the contours of the magnificent and dramatic Cornish coastline.
Pack your cosiest boots and coat and set off to Padstow for a two-night break in one of Rick Stein’s cute shepherd’s huts. This is glamping at its finest, with underfloor heating, a hot shower, and a Nespresso coffee machine – there’ll even be a bottle of wine waiting for you on arrival. It's the ideal base for those bracing sea walks, and Rick Stein's cosy pub, The Cornish Arms, is right next door to the shepherd's huts for hearty meals and warming toddies on cold winter nights.
Uplifting spa treatments in Leicestershire
If you’d rather stay in a cosy cocoon while you indulge in self-care, a spa break could be exactly what you need. Our favourite is Ragdale Hall. It’s a proper destination spa with incredible facilities, including an impressive thermal circuit, pools, relaxation areas, and therapy rooms.
Winter weather and central heating can play havoc on our skin, so you should make the most of the Clarins skincare consultation included in an exclusive two-night trip with Prima. But our favourite parts of this special trip are the two 40-minute spa therapies. Choose between a massage, facial, manicure or body treatment and reemerge feeling like a new woman, ready to tackle 2025 head-on.
Back to nature in Gloucestershire
It’s no secret that spending time in nature is good for our mental health. It’s why we love spending time outdoors in Feburary, which can often be the gloomiest month for many of us.
Spend two nights at the Tudor Farmhouse in the Forest of Dean, feeling properly looked after by the warm hospitality there. During the days, there are walking and biking trails to follow, or you can join one of the hotel’s experts on a foraging or wildlife spotting trip. Then, return to the cosy Tudor Farmhouse for delicious cooking – the head chef tries to source as much produce as possible within a 20-mile radius.
